St Basil’s Randwick Independent Living Apartments

The project comprises 79 retirement living apartments ranging from one to three bedrooms and a 113 room residential care facility. There are also community facilities including a chapel, day care centre, multi-purpose hall, pool, exercise rooms, allied health rooms and a cafe.

The site is part of the curtilage of the historic Brigidine Convent and more than 50% is covered by magnificent fig trees. It is located in the centre of The Spot village.

Sustainable design considerations balance the comfort of residents while increasing the building’s as-built and operational energy efficiencies. These include: north/ northeast orientation of the majority of units; landscaped roof terraces; material selection based on environmental performance; provision of natural light and ventilation to almost all habitable and circulation areas; and water storage and re-use for landscape irrigation.
