Working closely with the community of Blayney, Sydney Trains Heritage and Sydney Trains a refurbishment strategy for the adaptation of Blayney Railway Station was developed as a new identify and focus for the community of Blayney. The strategy, consisted of a series of interventions which minimised any heritage impact for this State Heritage Item, this was undertaken after a thorough condition of assessment, paint scrape analysis and detailed studies.
This work consisted of three stages of work:
Stage 1: two external walls were stabilised through re-pointing, essential repairs were made to the platform awnings which were repainted in historically accurate paint colours and paint systems.
Stage 2: all the internal walls were stabilised having been damaged by rising and falling damp, new services were integrated for new community uses and modifications to external doors were undertaken for access. Two rooms were repainted in historically accurate paint colours and paint systems.
Stage 3: modifications were made to the toilet area for new community uses and the installation of new services and repainting was undertaken once the damage from rising and falling damp was rectified.
